What happened

Isaias came ashore near Destin as a Category 2 hurricane.

Damage stretched from the Alabama line into the eastern Panhandle: roofs, interiors, water intrusion, and fallen trees. On October 28, 2026, FEMA approved a major disaster declaration for the incident period of October 6–12.

Timing

The notice clock started on October 9.

Under §627.70132, Fla. Stat., notice of an initial or reopened property claim must be given within 1 year of the date of loss, and notice of a supplemental claim within 18 months. For Isaias, that puts initial notice by October 9, 2027.
